11-13-2023 - MRS. SANTA CLAUS
I know most of you who know Jean Parker Colquitt also know that she was a devout Christian who unapologetically practiced her faith in her daily life.

I bet that a lot of you did not know that she was Mrs. Santa Claus to thousands of unprivileged kids in the entire Decatur,AL area for 27 years.
She worked tirelessly for 27 years to make sure that all the kids in the Decatur area had a great Christmas to look forward to.
This was a year long labor of love that Jean and her daughter Carol worked at for most of the year.
Please read the tribute to Jean by the Neighborhood Christian Center.

Remembering Our Ms. Santa Claus: Honoring Jean Colquitt's Legacy at the NCC
Christmas is somewhat different this year at the NCC. Our Ms. Santa Claus, aka Jean Colquitt, recently passed away from her short battle with cancer. She will be missed greatly. Jean spear-headed the NCC’s Christmas Toy Store for 27 years with her helpers – daughter Carol Godwin and Marilyn Davies; along with the Christmas Book & Game Room team – Hope Schmidt and Debbie Smith. She worked faithfully and tirelessly all year to ensure the Christmas Toy Store was full of the best toys and gift items for our children and their families. In the 17 years that Tim & I have been Co-Directors at the NCC and keeping up with the stats of the Christmas Toy Store – we have given out over 203,662 toys and gifts items, served 9,911 children and 5,109 families under the direction of Jean.

Every year, Jean would remind me that no matter how much work it was throughout the year, she loved doing it because, on Christmas morning, she would awaken and think about all the children and families that were having a blessed Christmas because of all the toys and gift items the Neighborhood Christian Center was able to share with them. Now, she is experiencing the greatest gift of all: being in the presence of Jesus. We are looking forward to an amazing Christmas Toy Store this year under the leadership of Marilyn Davies, but will miss our Ms. Claus, Jean.

We are thankful to you all who donate Christmas toys and gifts, financial funding, and volunteer during this special time of ministry. Your generosity has been a blessing.
