> Greetings,
>
> I hope this message finds you well. I'm Clayton Spencer, son to Lee
> and Laura Spencer, and I writing to you because I found your name in
> my parents address book. Many names there I recognized, but some I did
> not. My apologies if this email reaches you in error.
>
> I am writing with sad news. My dad passed away last Tuesday evening.
> In late June, Dad suffered a mild stroke. At that point, prognosis was
> good and he began making rapid progress with in-patient therapy.
> Around the first of July he began suffering additional strokes. Four
> strokes were confirmed and it is believed that he had a fifth this
> past Sunday. Each successive stroke began to take their toll and he
> lost more and more function. Other complications ensued and it became
> impossible to treat those serious conditions as well as the strokes.
> Dad was transferred to the ICU last Sunday, placed on hospice Monday,
> and passed peacefully Tuesday night. My wife, son, and I had come down
> to Greenville, TX for the Fourth of July at a time when we thought dad
> would be transferred back home July 6th. I am glad that I was able to
> be there with dad to provide support, comfort, and help with the
> medical decisions - difficult as they were. It's been very hard to
> lose both of my parents within a year and a half of each other, but I
> am glad that dad's spirit has been reunited with mom's. They were never meant to be separated. Rest in peace, dad, you've earned it!
>
> Due to COVID-19, we will delay having a memorial service until a later
> date. We will have a small, private, grave-side service at Forest Park
> Cemetery in Greenville on Monday, July 27. Coker-Mathews funeral home
> here in Greenville will be providing services
> (https://www.cokermathews.com/) It is possible we will try to hold a
> 'virtual' family visitation via *Zoom* on Sunday, July 26. Please let
> me know if you would be interested in being included in that event.
>
> Please do share this information with any others that you think might
> wish to know.
>
> If you'd like to contact me, I can be reached as follows:
> email: cfspence@ic.edu
> mobile (text/voice): 217-204-5720
> home address: 138 Caldwell St., Jacksonville, IL, 62650
