 SIDNEY LANIER Class of 1957 - Latest News 01-09-2009 - CORNELIA ELLIS WALLACE DIES AT 69 We regret to inform you that we have lost another classmate and Alabama has lost a former first lady. We simply remember her as 'C'nelia'; our classmate,a dark-haired ,energetic and athletic cheerleader adored by all. Alabama and the world remembers the image of her throwing herself over George Wallaces' body as he lay bleeding in a shopping center parking lot in Laurel,Md. Cornelia died of cancer in Sebring,Fl where she had moved to be near her sons.
